Momentum Music & Dance Academy is dedicated to providing professional dance instruction in a caring and nurturing environment to students of all ages. Since 2003, we've received your feedback, and here is what you've been saying:

"Although our 3 year old daughter has only attended Momentum Dance Academy for one year she is HOOKED on dancing. The entire staff has been so incredibly helpful and encouraging to us (as first time "dance parents" but most importantly to her. She looks forward each week to attending class and to becoming a real "Ballerina". The annual performance was better than we could ever have imagined and was managed so smoothly.
It's nice to find a staff so dedicated to it's students while still providing a fun, supportive, and friendly atmosphere...and in the South End to boot!! We look forward to many more years of dance and to branching out into the numerous "disciplines" offered at Momentum, especially Irish Dance. "As a mother of two dancers at Momentum, I have been thrilled to see the enthusiasm in my daughters! My older daughter, from the academy's beginning, has been eager to participate in every class she can (ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern, etc. etc.).
An exciting moment for me came when, very early on, she announced, "I really like Mrs. Moss as a teacher, Mom, because I am learning so much in my ballet class. I am learning not just the way to do the steps but the names of all of them, too." She and one of her close friends are very enthusiastic about the "classical" instruction, as her friend stated, they receive in ballet. My daughter doesn't even mind all the bar work!!

They are impressed with the emphasis on learning the fundamentals of dance in all their other classes, as well. When my younger daughter (4 yrs. old) became skiddish about practicing for the performance, Mrs. Moss was patient and pleasantly persistant. It paid off; she was happy and eagerly performed in the year-end performance. Our family is quite pleased about Momentum. "My daughter knew Mrs. Moss was a great dance teacher and had a caring heart; but she still agonized over whether to leave her old studio of several years, and her friends there. I let her think it through on her own, one of the first big life decisions she's handled alone.

All that weighing of pros and cons has more than paid off for her. She knew within a few lessons that this was her "home" for ballet. Mrs. Moss really pushes her, but this makes my daughter feel so proud of her new achievements. There is wonderful structure and discipline, but combined with the right amount of love and empathy, I am truly grateful that my daughter has Mrs. Moss in her life.

There is also a sense of decorum that I sincerely appreciate as a parent, and that makes Momentum stand out from the rest -- dance for dance's sake, the true art form.

"My children have just finished their second year dancing with Momentum Dance Academy. We had a very good studio before we moved to this area and were anxious to find another dance school we felt good about. My experience has been that dance studios are either very disciplined or very fun, with not much in between. We've been pleased to find a dance school that offers both of these elements to our daughters. The instuctors are very serious in their approach to and appreciation of dance, and they expect their students to be discipined and self-controlled. And, somehow, at the same time they communicate a joy and love of dance that brings fun to the whole experience. My girls spend their spare time at home doing "dance school" where the oldest teaches the younger ones, and then they choreograph and put on performances for the family.

I'd also add that in looking for a dance studio, we were concerned about modesty in dance style and costumes for performances. We've been so pleased in the choices Momentum has made and feel confident in their decisions concerning appropriate behavior and dress for young ladies. It's nice to be able to trust the instructors who spend 3 to 5 hours each week with my oldest daughter. Their influence in her life is significant considering the amount of time they spend together!

I appreciate the amount of community involvement Momentum Dance Academy offers my children as well. From dancing at May Fair, to Burien Strawberry Festival and the Christmas show at a local church, the kids really get to be involved in the community and offer a form of service as well as entertainment.

Lastly, I'd add that I was very touched by the before performance prayer that Stephanie offered at the Strawberry Festival. It was simple and sweet, not excluding in any way, but simply offered the performance to God as a gift and asked his presence go with the girls as they danced. I'm proud to be a part of a dance school that is willing to see dance as a way to bless others and to bless God."
